Margit Mindrum became regionally well known in the Upper Midwest by painting landscapes (mostly) that were typical of her SE Minnesota home.
Margit once marveled that she had been born in the horse and buggy age and had lived into the space age.
Margit came from a family of artists — from her multi-talented dad to her acclaimed brother.
Margit created over 600 paintings, first in watercolor and then in gouache.
Margit wrote a book! Okay, so she only set out to record some memories for her grandkids. But hey, it became a book. (See also Gunhild’s story.)
Margit’s correspondences can shed light on the artist and her life and times.
