Margit paintings you might see at museums

<< | Paintings | >>

Some of Margit’s paintings have been donated to or purchased by museums and other organizations that may display the artwork publicly. Here is [a start of] a list of the paintings we’re aware of. (Click an image to enlarge it.)

Decorah, Iowa

The Vesterheim Museum surely has been given a Margit painting or two. We just need to track ’em down! Of course the Norwegian-American museum has numerous pieces by the “other” Landsverks (Tarkjel and Halvor).

Peterson, Minnesota

Peterson Station—the museum in Peterson MN—has one painting by Margit. Her early (1961) rendition of Sylvan Park in nearby Lanesboro hangs on a wall not far from a kubbestol carved by Margit’s younger brother Halvor.

  • Lanesboro Park” (ID = 61-12)
For more information, see Local landmarks.

Fillmore County, Minnesota

The Fillmore County Historical Society has been given at least three paintings (see their notice at right). (These are at the FCHS’s Fountain location?)

  • Winter frost cutter” (ID = 63-29)
For more info on this painting see Winter sleighing.
Note: This painting had been displayed in Vesterheim’s 1990 art exhibit “Three Landsverks”.

  • Twin Rock” (ID = 72-17)
Need to verify we’re not talking about 72-29 “Twin Rock” (And a better picture would be nice!)

For a better picture of an identical painting see 73-13 in Local landmarks.

  • Lone Rock” (ID = 72-18)
Need to verify we’re not talking about 72-28 “Lone Rock” (And again, this image sucks. We need a better picture! But at least you get an idea what it looks like.)
