For a farmer, the fall season means harvesting
<< | Paintings | >>
Corn shocks serve as an image of fall and the harvest. Margit included corn shocks in some of her earliest paintings. And she returned to them year after year. She also used them as a symbol of God’s blessings, often with the tagline of “Thou Preparest a Table Before Me” (see Religious paintings). See also “Wilson’s farm”.

Inspiration: Margit’s painting “Corn shocks in RR valley” was based on a photograph by ___. Margit’s rendition took at least one liberty that was questioned. The person who ordered the painting asked where the bridge in the background was. Margit is reported to have replied, “If you want the bridge, you can look at the picture.”
