Map of places Margit lived

Locations in Fillmore and Houston Counties in SE Minnesota

<< | Home | >>

It can be challenging to keep track of all the farms and communities where Margit lived, so here’s a map of her corner of Minnesota (you can see the Mississippi River on the right–and Iowa runs along the southern edge of this map). Not all of her places are shown (for example, when she worked for her Uncle Henry Oian in Rushford and other shorter living arrangements). Also, some locations may be approximate.

(If you think something needs tweaking, let us know! This is just a first draft.)

  1. Highland Prairie — The Tarkjel Landsverk farm where she was born and raised
  2. The Rorhella farm, north of Bratsberg, that she and Palmer bought in 1928
  3. Oak Ridge
  4. Highland Prairie — the Otto Mindrum Farm
  5. Money Creek
  6. Cushion Peak
  7. Oak Ridge — where Margit started painting
  8. Houston — her house on the south edge of town (Broadview Acres) and lastly her place in town (see Downtown Houston)
