Oak Ridge Church

The long journey of a small immigrant church

In Margit’s chapter on Oak Ridge, she talks about her family attending church. That small church would eventually close, but the building caught the interest of Norwegians wanting to document the experience of their countrymen in America.

A church on the move…

News in Norway too
An article in a Norwegian newspaper is titled “New life for Oak Ridge church”. The caption reads (in Norwegian), “Museum director Knut Djupedal has reached an important milestone for the Norwegian Emigration Museum. The church from Minnesota has been rebuilt near Mjosa, and is as Norwegian-American as anyone could wish for.”
