Houston artist displays 155 paintings at show
HOUSTON, Minn. (Special) — Mrs. Palmer Mindrum, well known Houston County artist, greeted more than 400 persons Saturday at a tea and showing of her many paintings.
The event was held at the Community Building. Refreshments were served by the Forget-Me-Not circle of the Houston Garden Club, which also sponsored a floral arrangement demonstration by Mrs. Dennis Fredriskson, Mabel. Also included in the day’s activities was a showing of ceramics and the procedure followed in making ceramics demonstrated by a couple who own and operate a ceramics shop in La Crosse.
Mrs. Mindrum began painting in 1951 when the youngest of her six children entered college. She had always wanted paintings for her home but she felt the price was prohibitive so she began painting, using water colors left from her children’s childhood collection. She even used the small brushes her children had used in grade school
